19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of that year.

Victory also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved four initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
